This first version of the EUDAT Sustainability Plan captures and discusses the important questions arising in the planning of a long-term collaborative data infrastructure (CDI). It does not seek to answer all these questions but rather set the scene for broader discussions within the EUDAT consortium as a whole. The plan reviews the current European stage for long-term sustainability of data archives and proposes a number of possible models and cost scenarios for a future EUDAT. It concludes with a number of recommendations to the EUDAT Executive Board.
