Any generic or thematic site hosting a data repository and providing ICT services to facilitate research is welcome to join EUDAT. Organisations join EUDAT under one of four membership tiers — Observing, Thematic, Contributing or Leading Member — reflecting their level of engagement, the resources they contribute, and their role in EUDAT governance. Leading Members additionally host and operate one or more shared EUDAT services and play a strategic role in the Collaboration's development."

 

Membership Tiers

Observing or Thematic Member

Observing or Thematic Members are EUDAT Members that engage primarily in community and knowledge exchange activities.

A thematic research infrastructure is a research infrastructure organized around a specific scientific domain or research theme, rather than around a particular technology or facility. Only entities matching this definition can apply for a Thematic Membership.

Benefits:

  • 1 EUDAT Council Vote
  • 1 training or social event
  • Inclusion in the public members page

Responsibilities and contributions:

  • Annual Membership Fee
  • Promote and use services
  • Participate in EUDAT Working Groups or User Board
Contributing Member

Contributing Members participate actively in working groups and provide resources or expertise supporting service development and coordination.

Benefits:

  • 2 EUDAT Council Votes
  • 1 training event and 1 social event
  • Inclusion in the public members page
  • One webpage to present the member and the services

Responsibilities and contributions:

  • Annual Membership Fee
  • Promote and use services
  • Participate in EUDAT Working Groups or User Board
  • Providing resources i.e., infrastructure service/s, voluntary effort commitments, service development support
Leading Member

Leading Members, who take responsibility for the operation and further development of core EUDAT services and play a strategic role in governance. Leading Members are recognised as key operational contributors to EUDAT and may provide additional resources or expertise in support of common services and orchestration activities.

  • 2 training events and 1 social event
  • Inclusion in the public members page
  • One webpage to present the member and the services
  • Promotion of member activities across EUDAT channels. 

Responsibilities and contributions:

  • Annual Membership Fee
  • Promote and use services
  • Participate in EUDAT Working Groups or User Board
  • Providing resources i.e., infrastructure service/s, voluntary effort commitments, service development support
  • Developing and/or operating services and/or operational tools

How do I join?

To join, prospective Members submit a Statement of Intent to the EUDAT Secretariat. The Secretariat reviews the request and puts it to the EUDAT Council, which decides on admission. Once approved, the new Member signs the EUDAT CDI Agreement and its Accession Document."
