Researchers

DataCite is perfect for:

  • Researchers or end users because DataCite provides tools and services that enhance the visibility, accessibility, and impact of their work. Metadata registered with DataCite makes research outputs more easily found in databases, repositories, and search engines. They can cite and be cited more effectively using DOIs, which improve the accuracy and consistency of references in academic work. They  can also monitor how their outputs are cited and used, providing insights into their work's influence
  • Communities and other providers, such as repositories, libraries, and publishers, as DataCite facilitates the management, discoverability, and impact of shared research outputs. By providing DOIs with rich metadata, reliable, long-term access to resources like datasets, articles, and software is ensured while promoting adherence to FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

Service fee
This fee consists of two components: an Organization Fee (500 € per year) and a tier-based DOI Fee. For the DOI Fee, we have 2 cases:

  • For User will a small number of DOIs
For the institutions registering less than 500 DOIs, we use the FEE model (pays based on usage).
  • For User with number of DOIs > 500
For the institutions registering more than 500 DOIs, we use the CAP model
