Since the beginning, national initiatives play an important role in providing data infrastructures for academic, scientific and research institutions and communities. Today, with scientific collaborations transcending borders, they have become an even more important link to ensuring these cross-border teams can work and collaborate seamlessly over their data.

In this session, one of EUDAT's members GRNET is showcasing their e-infrastructure service portfolio and how an integrated national service provider facilitates the work of national and cross-national data-focused communities within EUDAT and beyond. As an example of the larger role being taken by national initiatives in integrating regions, the session also looks at NI4OS-Europe's work in data services which covers 15 European countries and how this fits in the big picture. The upcoming regional petscale HPC machine and related services will also be presented.
