In this edition of our monthly bulletin you’ll find news of EUDAT’s plans to work with research communities over the next three years. Hand in hand with research communities and users: EUDAT looks to the future

Over 130 representatives from 35 European data and high-performance computing centres and research communities met in Helsinki from 24-26 March 2015 to roll out their detailed plans for the next three years. EUDAT has received a further €19 million from the European Commission and has brought on board 10 new organisations to consolidate its common data infrastructure (CDI) offering research data solutions and services. EUDAT joins forces with the Japanese Research Organization of Information and Systems

International collaboration is the foundation of EUDAT. On 25 February 2015, Kimmo Koski, EUDAT coordinator and Managing Director CSC – IT Center for Science, Finland and Genshiro Kitagawa, President Research Organization of Information and Systems (ROIS) Japan signed a collaboration agreement. As part of this, they will develop mutually beneficial, creative and productive scholarly activities. You can read the full story on the EUDAT website.

‘Physicists are always attracted by complexity’

How can we ensure that practically irreproducible data, such as that produced by experiments undertaken on the particle colliders at CERN, can be used in future? This month EUDAT had the pleasure of speaking to Marcello Maggi of the ALEPH experiment. Sharing RDA Outputs in more ways than one

EUDAT has begun implementing the first RDA Outputs and examples of this were presented at the RDA Plenary Meeting in San Diego in early March. How practical policy solutions will impact on the EUDAT CDI were outlined by Mark van de Sanden, SURFsara. The plenary meeting attendants were informed that EUDAT’s share and store research data service will be used as the official RDA Outputs repository. Find out more.
